How to use QEP Capture

QEP Capture collects panel sensory data for one product and exports it into QEP Taste Signature. The researcher workflow runs in five steps.

  1. 1. Create or open a study. From the Studies list, create a new study or open an existing one. A study represents a single panel evaluation of one product. New studies start in Draft.
  2. 2. Configure attributes. Open Configure and choose which sensory attributes and emotions the study measures, across the seven Journey-of-Taste stages (Appearance, Aroma, Front of Mouth, Mid/Rear Mouth, Texture, Aftertaste, Overall). Do this before collecting responses - the Capture screen shows nothing until attributes are configured.
  3. 3. Collect responses. Two ways, which can be mixed:
    • Capture (you administer): open Capture and enter a consumer's responses yourself, one session per consumer.
    • Consumer link (self-serve): on the study page, generate a consumer link. This sets the study Live and produces a shareable URL that consumers open to complete the evaluation themselves - no account needed. Copy the link to share it. Revoke it when you have finished collecting; revoking disables the link but keeps the study Live so your own Capture still works.
  4. 4. Review as you go. Every response - whether you entered it or a consumer submitted it via the link - aggregates into the same study result, so both methods contribute to one product profile.
  5. 5. Export. From the study page, export the aggregated result as CSV or XLSX. The file has the fixed 266-column layout that imports directly into QEP Taste Signature. Intensities are the mean across consumers; emotions are included if any consumer selected them.

Tip: a study's status moves Draft to Live (when you generate a consumer link) and can be Closed when collection is complete. Consumers can only submit while the study is Live.
